AFF

AFF is your path to jumping solo and becoming a licensed skydiver! Learn the skills to freefall, fly and land your parachute through progressive training with experienced instructors. Complete the AFF levels, build your skills with each jump, and take the first steps toward earning your USPA A-license!

What's Included?

Skydive DeLand’s Accelerated Freefall (AFF) program begins with comprehensive ground training covering the equipment, procedures, and skills you’ll use on your first jump.

Your AFF jump includes student equipment and instruction throughout the process, from preparation on the ground through freefall and landing. During early AFF categories, instructors jump with you as you learn and demonstrate the skills required to progress through the program. Each level builds on the last as you work toward being cleared to jump solo and continue your progression toward a USPA A-license.

FAQ's

What is the Accelerated Freefall (AFF) program?

AFF, or Accelerated Freefall, is where you begin learning to skydive for yourself. You’ll start with ground training before taking those skills to the sky with AFF instructors, learning freefall, canopy flight, landing procedures, and more as you progress through each level. It’s the first step toward jumping solo and earning your USPA A-license.

  • All essential equipment, including your personal parachute system, helmet, altimeter, jumpsuit and radio

  • The plane ride to jump from 13,500 feet

  • Personalized in-air instruction (two instructors for your first three category jumps, and a single instructor for the remaining categories until you are cleared for solo jumps)

  • Be between 18 and 60 years old

  • Weigh less than 220 lbs

  • Present a valid photo ID upon arrival

  • Have absolutely no drugs or alcohol in your system before jumping

Once you board the aircraft, you will ride up to a jump altitude of approximately 13,500 feet. You can expect to experience about 60 seconds of freefall, followed by approximately 5 minutes of canopy flight while you fly the parachute to landing
