Are you Ready?
Your first tandem skydive at Skydive DeLand starts with check-in at the Gear Store. Once you’re checked in, you’ll have time to settle in, watch the action from the observation deck, or grab a bite at the onsite restaurant while you wait for your jump. About 20 minutes before boarding, you’ll head to the classroom to meet your tandem instructor, go through your pre-jump training, and get fitted with your tandem harness.
Then it’s time to board the aircraft and head to altitude. The approximately 12-minute climb takes you to nearly 13,500 feet, giving you a bird’s-eye view of DeLand and Central Florida along the way. And when that door opens? The anticipation becomes reality!
Let's Jump!
Once you’re connected to your tandem instructor, it’s time for the part you came for. Exit from 13,500 feet, experience up to 60 seconds of freefall at around 120 mph, then feel the pace change when the parachute opens! From there, you’ll spend several minutes under canopy taking in the view over DeLand before heading back to the dropzone.

FAQ's
Is there an age requirement to skydive?
At Skydive DeLand, you must be at least 18 years old to skydive. All jumpers are required to present a valid government-issued photo ID when they check in. There is no set upper age limit, we welcome jumpers of many ages, though you should be in good physical health and able to participate in the requirements of a tandem skydive.
Is there a weight limit for tandem skydive passengers?
Our standard weight limit for tandem skydiving is 220 pounds. If you’re slightly over 220 pounds, give us a call! In some cases, we may be able to accommodate jumpers over the standard weight limit based on factors such as height, weight, body proportions, and equipment fit.
From what altitude will I jump, and how long does the freefall last?
Tandem students jump from nearly 13,500 feet. You will reach speeds up to 120 mph and experience approximately 60 seconds of freefall before the instructor deploys the parachute. The parachute flight back to the ground then takes about three to five minutes.
Can I bring my own GoPro or camera on the jump?
Leave the GoPro with your friends on the ground, we’ve got the camera covered! Personal cameras, GoPros, phones, and other recording devices cannot be taken on your tandem skydive. Camera flying adds another layer of skill and responsibility to a skydive, which is why it’s reserved for appropriately experienced skydivers.

What should I wear for my skydive?
Dress comfortably and for the Florida weather! Athletic clothing like shorts, leggings, or a T-shirt works well. Wear closed-toe athletic shoes that stay securely on your feet—no sandals, flip-flops, or boots. Depending on conditions and availability, a jumpsuit may also be provided to wear over your clothing.
