Is there an age requirement to skydive?
Yes. You must be at least 18 years old and present a valid government-issued photo ID on the day of your jump. Even with parental consent, individuals under 18 are not permitted to skydive at this facility. There is no upper age limit, provided you are in good health.
Is there a weight limit for tandem skydive passengers?
The standard weight limit for a tandem passenger at Skydive DeLand is 220 pounds. However, they may occasionally take passengers slightly over this limit depending on height and weight proportions. Anyone over 220 pounds must be evaluated in person by an instructor to ensure the jump can be completed safely.
From what altitude will I jump, and how long does the freefall last?
Tandem students jump from nearly 14,000 feet. You will reach speeds up to 120 mph and experience approximately 60 seconds of freefall before the instructor deploys the parachute. The parachute flight back to the ground then takes about three to five minutes.
Can I bring my own GoPro or camera on the jump?
No, you cannot bring your own camera or GoPro. Skydive DeLand strictly follows the United States Parachute Association (USPA) safety standards, which state that only licensed skydivers with a minimum of 200 skydives are allowed to jump with a camera. If you want your jump recorded, you will need to purchase one of their professional video or photo packages.
What should I wear for my skydive?
You should wear comfortable, weather-appropriate athletic clothing, such as shorts, yoga pants, or a t-shirt. You are required to wear closed-toe sneakers or tennis shoes (no sandals or boots). The dropzone may also provide you with a jumpsuit to wear over your clothes during the jump.
What is exactly is included in the price of my tandem jump?
Absolutely everything you need to jump is covered in the standard price. This includes your pre-jump instruction, all necessary skydiving equipment and harnesses, and the airplane ride to full altitude. There are no hidden fees or extra charges for the jump itself. The only optional add-on is if you choose to purchase a professional video and photo package to document your experience.
