Orientation Summary For Fun Jumpers

When you arrive at Skydive DeLand for the first time (or if you would like a refresher) you will be given an in-depth orientation to help you become familiar with our DZ before you make your first jump with us. Below are a few bits of safety information to get you started!

Aircraft Boarding

Board in reverse order
1. Lower altitudes exit first
2. Larger groups ahead of smaller groups
3. RW ahead of sit-fly & head-down groups
4. Solos based on time and distance under canopy
5. AFF
6. Tandem
7. Track dives and CRW last
Sit down immediately, slide back, fasten your safety belt
Remove your safety belt above 1,000 feet
Be ready to jump, our aircraft climb fast

Exit

Follow the pilot’s instruction
Open the door on the red light
Check for clear airspace and spot
Exit only on the green light
Maintain adequate separation between groups
It is your responsibility to stay clear of clouds

Freefall

Maintain altitude awareness
Break-off as planned
Track as needed to assure safe separation for opening
Open at the appropriate altitude

Landing

Pick a landing area appropriate for your skill level and experience
Fly either a left or right pattern to avoid crossing the mid-line of the landing area
Go with the flow of the traffic
Land on the SAME HEADING, going the SAME DIRECTION as those ahead of you
Landing turns of more than 180i in the swoop area only
Make and keep your approach over a clear, obstacle-free area – NOT over people, buildings, or cars
Land outside the safety line, away from obstacles
Land so you walk away uninjured
